Lions, Tigers, and Politics...What?
This week was a very informative week. I learned a whole lot about something in education that I didn't really think about when I think about my career choice. This week brought in a new light and I am so glad I had the opportunity to learn all about micro and macro politics. At Beehive Elementary there are on average 4 teachers per grade level and so with this comes a very dynamic group of people. In my grade level as first grade teachers there are four of us. I am the newest this year and then it ranges from around 15-30 years of experience. So our team is dynamic just by experience. Our school has many specialists that also bring a certain dynamic to our school. We have the reading specialist, computer specialist, interventionist, special education and a few others that help support our staff and students. I am so excited to work with not only experience, but talents and devoted teachers. I am patiently awaiting to meet the entire faculty. I know that I will learn great teacher leader skills from many of them. I have already seen their passion for education and their love for teaching just by walking the halls at Beehive Elementary.

Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteI too am glad I got to learn about the politics involved in schools. The word "politics" has always turned me off from any situation involving it but I have a better understanding and more positive out look on it now. I'm excited to see if I'm able to influence the micro politics at my school in a positive way.
